Movement has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Basketball was my first love, but I also tried gymnastics, track, volleyball, football and baseball. In track, I was the athlete who did a little of everything—enthusiasm was never the problem! That variety taught me that you don’t have to be the best at something to enjoy it, challenge yourself and keep getting better.
I taught high school health and PE across Oregon from 2002–2022 and owned a small CrossFit-style gym in NE Portland from 2012–2022. Those experiences shaped how I coach: meet people where they are, help them build confidence and make movement something they want to keep coming back to.
Today, I work as an Executive Assistant to the Co-CEO of a global cryptocurrency company, so I understand the challenge of balancing a demanding career with taking care of yourself. I move every day through running, cycling, swimming, yoga or weightlifting. Consistency matters to me, along with paying attention to what my body needs physically, nutritionally and emotionally.
My favorite adventures involve hours on a bike with friends, a good meal and drinks afterward, and a camper van with my husband and partner of 20 years and our terrier, Gram. I don’t need a podium or a fast finish. I love the challenge, the company and the calm that follows a big effort.
Leaving an abusive relationship that lasted from my late teens into my mid-20s was a defining turning point in my life. It forced me to decide what I wanted for myself and begin building a life on my own terms. The part of that experience many people may recognize is self-doubt: questioning your strength, your judgment or what you’re capable of. Learning to trust myself helped shape the coach I am today. I want people to have opportunities to discover their own capability, make choices for themselves and feel proud of what their bodies can do.
I coach to help people discover that they are athletes in their own right. I’m especially motivated to support people who don’t see themselves as athletic, are returning after time away or want a consistent routine that fits their lives.
My goal is to help you become strong and healthy enough to enjoy your best days: riding with friends, exploring somewhere new, keeping up with family and feeling engaged in your community. I want you to leave class feeling challenged, supported and more confident in what you can do.
